Story

Every person has been created in God’s image and deserve to be treated with dignity. Unfortunately, we live in a world where not everyone has the same opportunities and experiences.

Hundreds of individuals sleep rough every year in Scotland.

Those who are experiencing homelessness have a much lower life expectancy, and face numerous hardships, health problems and discrimination. The challenge to alleviate homelessness is huge and it’s Bethany Christian Trust’s mission to end homelessness in Scotland one person at a time.

Bethany Christian Trust run numerous initiatives to work toward this goal focussing on homelessness prevention, crisis intervention, and housing and support. This includes the Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre provides emergency accommodation with support to anyone who would otherwise be rough sleeping in Edinburgh.

Also, Anne Hope House, which is a therapeutic residential community for women who are homeless and seeking to make positive changes in their lives.

The Care Van in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Perth offers food and support to people in crisis on the streets of Edinburgh and operates in conjunction with local churches and charities.

63,700 supported bedspace nights are offered annually. 30 key services are run across Scotland. 7,000 people are supported annually.

This is important to me because I believe that when we operate with compassion and love towards all people this makes the world a better place for them as individuals and for society at large.

I’ve also known many people who’ve worked for Bethany Christian Trust, including my wife Emily, and also I know some individuals who’ve been helped by Bethany Christian Trust.

Your donation serves as a beacon of hope, directly contributing to ending homelessness in Scotland, one person at a time. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a significant impact.

Thank you so much for considering what you can give – your generosity is deeply appreciated.

As I take on the challenge of running a marathon, I'm reminded that addressing homelessness is also a marathon, not a sprint. It requires consistent effort and dedication. I've set a fundraising goal of £3400, as my 34th birthday is the same week as Edinburgh marathon.

Thank you once again for considering donating, and whatever you’re able donate whether big or small every contribution goes toward the mission to end homelessness in Scotland one person at a time. You can follow along with updates on my Instagram and YouTube channel.
