Story
On 10 May, I will be taking to the streets of Leeds to play my part in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon event. While my good mate Danny Thomas is putting himself through the ringer to tackle the full 26.2-mile marathon, I will be taking on the Half Marathon. We are joining forces to represent the Rugby League family and raise essential funds for the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.
The work this charity does is nothing short of life-changing. As a former player, I have seen the impact the game can have, and the Benevolent Fund is there to provide a vital safety net for those who suffer catastrophic, life-altering injuries on the pitch. They offer everything from specialist medical equipment and home adaptations to long-term emotional support for players and their families. They ensure that no one has to face the consequences of a serious injury alone.
Even though I am only doing half the distance of the other Danny, the motivation remains the same. We are inspired by the incredible legacy of Rob Burrow and the way this sport pulls together in times of need. Every step I take is about ensuring the Fund can continue to provide a lifeline to the lads who have given so much to Rugby League.
I would be massively grateful for any donation you can spare to support my run. Your generosity goes directly towards helping injured players regain their independence and quality of life. Thank you for your support and for helping us look after our own.
