Raising money for RFL Benevolent Fund

Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2026 · 10 May 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

The RFL Benevolent Fund provides relief for people who have been injured whilst playing or training for rugby football league.

Story

On 10 May, two former players and teammates, Danny Thomas and Danny Maun, are joining forces to take on a massive challenge at the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon event. Danny Thomas will be testing his endurance over the full 26.2-mile marathon course, while Danny Maun will be hitting the streets to tackle the Half Marathon. Together, they are running to raise vital funds for the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.

The Rugby League Benevolent Fund is a charity that sits at the very heart of the sport, providing a lifelong safety net for players who have suffered life-changing injuries on the pitch. From funding specialist medical equipment and essential home adaptations to providing long-term emotional and financial support, the Fund ensures that members of the Rugby League family are never left to struggle alone after a catastrophic injury.

Both men have spent their careers understanding the importance of having your teammate’s back, and this challenge is an extension of that bond. Inspired by the incredible bravery and legacy of Rob Burrow, they are swapping their boots for running shoes to ensure that the sport continues to look after its own. Whether tackling the full distance or the half, every mile they cover is dedicated to improving the quality of life for injured players and their families.

Please consider donating to support the team as they take on these respective distances. Your generosity provides a lifeline to those who have given everything to the game and now face their toughest battles off the field. Thank you for your support.
