On 31st Aug, I’m putting my own physical health and baseline strength to the ultimate test by taking part in the Plane Pull to raise vital funds for Home-Start Wessex.

As someone who believes deeply in the power of a strong foundation, I know that the most critical foundation any of us will ever build is in early childhood. But right now, so many local families across Dorset are trying to carry an impossibly heavy load completely alone.

Whether it is battling poor mental health, postnatal depression, disability, domestic abuse, bereavement, or financial crisis—the pressure on parents is immense. When parents are pushed to their absolute breaking point, it’s the children who feel the weight.

That is exactly why I am pulling this plane.

Home-Start Wessex steps into the gaps for these families. They offer the life-changing friendship, practical help, and emotional support that parents need to grow in confidence, find their feet, and give their children the best possible start in life. Because a child’s early years happen once, and childhood simply cannot wait for a crisis to pass.

Every single penny raised goes directly to a local family who desperately needs a lifeline right now. No one should have to carry the weight of the world on their own, least of all a parent trying to raise the next generation.
