Story

Dear friends

As I enter the last year of my chairmanship of WWF, Helena and I are preparing for our third and final Chairman’s challenge.

The last two have been both inspirational, effective at fund raising and also great fun. Life long friendship have been made whilst undertaking some significant challenges! Thank you for all who have supported already and please forgive this (last) ask.

The call was to do a challenge which involved a conservation project and whilst ‘Napal for Tigers’ was one option for practical reasons, we needed something closer to home.

So next week we head to the Isle of Wight. We will don wet suits and take part at two of of sea grass planting project. Sea kayaking and hard graft will be involved. Between the two sites is a stroll of 20 miles with two overnight camping experiences to recuperate!

All the money raised will go to for WWF’s conservation work here in the UK and globally. Isle of Wight is home to WWF’s Seagrass Project which is directly tackling climate change.

“There is real hope: protection and restoration of habitats like seagrass meadows can be a key part of the solution in tackling climate change… to rebuild marine life at the scale and the speed required to fight the biodiversity crisis and the climate emergency, we need to think bigger, whereby we bring degraded habitats back to life at the same time as creating vast new habitat in support of coastal livelihoods and community resilience.” Dr Richard Unsworth, Associate Professor in Marine Ecology and co-founder of Project Seagrass.

Thanks

Dave and Helena
