Story
I am privileged to serve as a board member of Insurance United Against Dementia, a charity established in conjunction with Alzheimer’s society UK to raise funds to beat Dementia.
I am going to attempt to complete twenty 5km runs, in 2025 (100km in total) for IDfD 25 and in memory of my Mum, who sadly lost her battle against this horrific disease in December 2024.
Dementia is not limited by geography, it impacts families everywhere so I will be taking my running shoes as I work across the UK, with 5km runs planned across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales 🇬🇧.
I hope those who can will donate or better still join me on one of my runs near you as we continue the fight to find a cure for Dementia.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. There are currently over 900,000 people living with Dementia in the UK and this is set to rise to 1.4 million by 2040 if we do nothing. One in three people born today will develop the condition in their lifetime and no one has yet survived it 😔.
The Insurance United Against Dementia campaign was launched in 2017 and is an industry movement created and championed by leaders across the Insurancr sector, in partnership with its Alzheimer’s Society. Together, the campaign reached its first milestone in 2025 raising £10m.
The campaign continues as we embark on our next challenge to raise a further £10m kicking off with our annual Insurance Day for Dementia in November 2025
