Our vision is for a more active world for better mental health. Decades of science prove that having an activity focus (physical activity, music, art, learning) can both promote mental wellbeing and help people to recover from mental illness. We help people currently struggling with their mental health and supported by NHS teams. Our aim is to help them unlock an activity focus which can be an important part of their recovery alongside the medical and psychological support they are receiving. It is highly likely that as you read this that you, a loved one or a friend is struggling with their mental health. Over 8m people are taking prescription medications for a mental health issue and 1.8m people are being supported by NHS Mental Health teams. This crisis is impacting on millions of families and we aim to change the script by putting activity at the heart of both promoting mental wellbeing and recovering from mental illness. Please donate to help us support thousands of people struggling with their mental health and help create a world where activity is seen as important to mental health as it is to physical health.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page.

UPDATE- We have done it! OVER £1,000 FOR EACH OF THE THREE PEAKS! I am so very grateful to everyone who has sponsored me and still can't believe how far past my original £500 target you have helped me to smash past. There is still plenty of time to sponsor me if you can. THANK YOU!

On Saturday 17th May, I will be joined by a wonderful bunch of intrepid walkers, all taking on The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of newly launched mental health charity, The Little Push 4 Good.

The Y3PC has been something I've wanted to tackle for some time and so being able to test myself, all whilst raising much need funds through sponsorship seems a great thing to do.

As much as the theme of the walk will be centred around fun, competition and camaraderie, it has a very personal meaning for me, as it will for others walking and supporting us too.

In 2022, I lost my dear mum, Kim, after a relatively short and totally unexpected/ unpredicted battle with a severe mental illness.

Her story is tragic and really sad one and my family and I miss her dearly, but from the moment we lost her and in her honour, we wanted to use our experience as a force for good by acknowledging what mum spent most of her life doing, selflessly helping others.

So, when I discovered James Turton was launching The Little Push 4 Good, with the aim of supporting people to take their own positive steps towards maintaining good mental health and recovering from mental illness, I instinctively wanted to get behind it.

It has been a privilege for my business, Parker Young Recruitment to become one of the founding corporate partners of the charity and I feel lucky to have been able to pledge financial support over the next few years. While this will hopefully help a good number of people, the amount who require support means the charity needs to seek many more ways to raise charitable donations and I am thrilled so many people have already pledged their support through walking with/ sponsoring us.

It won't be a walk in the park, but that is the whole point right? Battling Mental Illness can be brutal and unforgiving and we want to acknowledge that, while balancing it with demonstrating the benefits of physical exercise and being with people we are fond of at the same time.

Sadly, there are over 1.5 million people being supported by NHS mental Health services currently, so there is a long way to go, but if you can support us to support them in any way, I'd be extremely grateful.

Would you like to join me and a great squad of like minded people and businesses all doing their Little Push? For more information, please call me on 07753168638.

If you can't make the walk, but want to support with a donation, please follow the link to do so. Thank you so much in advance.

Equally, if you are having a mental health crisis and want to talk to someone, please call NHS 111, Samaritans, Mind, or one of the other mental health charities in your area.

Together we can make a real positive impact on people's lives.

All my best,

Dave x.
