Story
Action4Youth is a leading young people's charity which provides positive, transformational experiences and activities for young people of all abilities. Each year, 25,000 young people benefit from the charity's many programmes, including their outstanding outdoor education centre - The Caldecotte Xperience (TCX).
At TCX, adventure awaits around every corner. From thrilling water sports to exhilarating climbing experiences and more. Embracing nature and getting away from screentime offers a sense of freedom and can inspire young minds. It's a place where friendships are forged; positive mental wellbeing is nurtured; a safe place to test boundaries and unlock potential, regardless of ability. TCX provides fully inclusive activities for all young people including those who have SEND and other complex needs.
TCX is now over 30 years old and requires significant investment to upgrade facilities, improve accessibility and provide year-round activities for all. A4Y are running a capital appeal to raise funds for the refurbishment of the main TCX building to make it fit for purpose for the 21st Century.
I am a Trustee of A4Y and a group of us have set ourselves the challenge of a 100km Trek in the Wadi-Rum desert in Jordan from the 24th February – 2nd March. This testing 100km route will involve trekking up to 25km per day in temperatures of up to 24°, with the added challenge on Day 2 of an ascent to the peak Um Ad Dami, the highest mountain in Jordan.
Thank you in anticipation of your contribution.
