Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.

Having lost too many family members and friends to this cruel disease, I can only emphasise how devastating it is to lose loved ones in this way. The hardest part is while they are still with you physically but they are not always there in their mind, to have family not recognise you or to have the same conversation again and again can be heart-breaking, you just have to remember, it's not their fault, they have a condition that makes them that way, you learn to treat it with humour to ease the emotional pain.

I have found great solace in walking/hiking and it allows me the time and space to think and to clear my mind so the Trek26 challenge is the perfect opportunity for me to raise awareness and money for a wonderful charity. Please help to fight dementia and give to this worthy cause.
