Leeds Rotary Sponsored Walk for Alzheimer’s Research

David Hartley is raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK

Leeds Rotary Sponsored Walk - Alzheimers Research · 6 September 2026

Leeds Rotary are organising a sponsored walk for Alzheimer’s Research UK on Sun 6 Sept 2026 at 11am, at Temple Newsam, Leeds. Your support helps fund the breakthroughs needed to create a future free from the harm and heartbreak of dementia.

Story

Yvonne and I are taking part in the walk. Having lost my mother to this dreadful disease, it is somewhat personal. Please donate to this worthy charity.

Dementia affects families everywhere, and its impact is growing. If nothing changes, one in two of us will be directly affected – by developing dementia, caring for someone who has it, or both. Research is progressing, but we still urgently need better treatments and, one day, a cure. Having lost my own mother to this dreadful disease, this is somewhat personal

That’s why Leeds Rotary Clubs proudly support Alzheimer’s Research UK through the annual sponsored walk at Temple Newsam. What began in 2024 as a single club’s initiative has grown into a shared commitment across the city.

The walk was founded by Headingley Rotarian Drew Dodds, inspired by his wife Isobel’s diagnosis in 2020. Both sadly died last year, but their determined spirit lives on, reminding us why research matters.

By donating today, you’re helping fund pioneering science that will lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Your generosity truly makes a difference and brings hope to future generations.
