Story
Dementia affects families in every community, and its impact is growing. If nothing changes, one in two of us will be directly affected by dementia – either by developing it, caring for someone who has it, or both. Research is making progress, but we still urgently need better treatments — and ultimately, a cure.
That’s why Leeds Rotary Clubs are proud to support Alzheimer’s Research UK through the annual sponsored walk at Temple Newsam. What began in 2024 as a single club’s initiative has grown into a shared commitment across the city, united by a determination to help change the future of dementia.
The walk was founded by Headingley Rotarian Drew Dodds, inspired by his wife Isobel’s diagnosis in 2020. Drew and Isobel both sadly died last year, but their practical, determined spirit lives on in this event. Their story reminds us why research matters — and why we cannot afford to stand still.
By donating today, you are helping to fund pioneering research that brings us closer to earlier diagnosis, better treatments, and one day, a cure.
Your generosity is part of a legacy of hope — supporting future generations to live in a world free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
Thank you for being part of this important effort. Your support truly makes a difference.
