Story
So after several years of failing to get a ballot entry into the London Marathon, I put my name into a hat for a charity entry that Elekta (my employer) were fortunate enough to get from their sponsored charity for this year – Demelza.
And at last I got lucky…! Well...that's what they told me...
So at the tender age of 58 I’m going to be spending the winter trying to train in the cold, dark, damp wilds of Sussex, with the hope that when 21st April arrives I’ll be able to run/walk/crawl the 42.2km to the finish on the Mall.
It’s a while since I’ve been sightseeing in London, so looking forward to it in that respect at least…. The training less so…
Demelza is a children’s charity based in the South East of England. They deliver extraordinary care to extraordinary children who are facing serious or life-limiting conditions. They work with children and their families throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex, providing expert clinical, emotional and practical support at every step from first diagnosis and for as long as needed.
When those children and their families need us most, Demelza is there to reassure, to guide and to care. By their side when they feel isolated, helping to create joy in family life during challenging times and making precious memories.
Demelza believes in care that doesn't back down – please visit their website to find out more:
