Story

Thank you for visiting my birthday charity page, how kind you are.

I am a long term fan of The Orpheus Centre and Sir Richard Stilgoe who started the Charity from scratch in 1997. The charity supports severely disabled adults as they transition from home to long term care settings in a caring and imaginative way. Realising that these adults needed to have the confidence and skills to deal with their care budgets and social services, Richard decided to give meaningful performance skills, teaching music (both instruments and voice) so all could appreciate the roar of approval from an audience. Professional West End musicians volunteer to train the students in a residential care home, formerly Richard's own home now greatly extended to house 66 students. It is a hub of fun with real skills training in cookery, laundry, shopping and budgetting. It has been life changing for the young adults and their families and has won many awards.

If you are able to make a contribution to this wonderful Charity it would be hugely appreciated by the students, and me!
