Story
I am taking on a steps challenge in February to raise money and awareness of Addison's Disease.
I was diagnosed in June 2022 after experiencing a life threatening adrenal crisis after donating blood.
This was a complete shock to me as I had been feeling well and hadn't experienced the usual symptoms. The only clue to the Doctors was my deep sun tan, a little weight loss and thinning hair. But it was the summer, I'd been watching my weight and I thought hair loss was down to my age! This condition causes all three things plus many more symptoms that can be difficult to manage.
This charity has been a lifeline to me, providing information and support, so that I can live more safely with this condition.
February will be a cold month and I have two sedentary jobs so this challenge will not be easy, to do 8k per day, even though I like to walk!
If any friends or family would like to join me any day on my walks, please message me, I'd love your company!
Thank you for your support.. You can read more about the charity below.

I am proud to be taking 'Steps for Addison's Awareness' from 1 - 28 February to raise awareness and funds for the Addison's Disease Self-Help Group (ADSHG).
The ADSHG charity supports everyone affected by Addison's and adrenal insufficiency. Addison’s is a rare endocrine condition where the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormones and can be life-threatening. It affects approximately 1 in 10,000 people and is roughly 300 times rarer than diabetes.
Every donation will go directly towards the Addison’s Disease Self-Help Group’s mission of supporting the Addison's and adrenal insufficiency community and their healthcare providers as well as supporting vital research. Together, we can make a real difference.
Every penny raised helps us support people affected by Addison's disease and adrenal insufficiency.
