Dennisville Spring Cake & Coffee Afternoon Β· 18 May 2025

All children need to play, but for disabled children it is essential to help them reach their full potential. Challengers provides numerous play schemes for disabled children from across the South East. However, there are hundreds of children missing out every day and your gift can help them play.

Thank you for joining the Spring Community Cake & Coffee Afternoon organised by the Dennisville Residents Association.

Dennisville is a friendly mixed residential community of 220 households. Fun fact, Dennisville was built in the 1930s to accommodate workers at the Dennis Brothers factory at Woodbridge Hill. Many fire engines still carry the brand name 'Dennis'! πŸš’

We are keen to support our local charities while enjoying a cuppa, a slide and a chatter. In this spring, we selected Challengers as we believe in their mission of transforming the lives of disabled children, young people and their families through the power of play, reducing social isolation and loneliness.πŸ«‚

They provide a range of fully inclusive play and leisure opportunities for disabled children across the South East (Richmond, Kingston, Guildford, Basingstoke, Farnham, Winchester, Eastleigh, Chichester). In Year 2023-24, they delivered 18,036 sessions and 75,817 hours of play, supporting 752 young people.

🟠 Pre-school – Inclusive Pre-school for disabled and non-disabled children aged 2 – 5 [30,371 hours]

🟠 Play schemes – Weekend and holiday Play schemes for disabled children aged 4 – 12 [21,590 hours]

🟠 Youth schemes – Weekend and holiday Youth schemes for disabled young people aged 13 – 18 [17,214 hours]

🟠 555 Service – Alternative provision delivering urgent support to disabled young people aged 8-18 who are out of education [6,288 hours]

🟠 The Hub – Holistic support for families of disabled children, including 1-1 support sessions, coffee and crafts, parenting workshops and family fun events

You can see some case studies in the galley of our Justgiving page. We are so grateful for your generous support to Challengers. Let's help them go further. 🧑
