Story
On 1460 day a group of Dr Martens employees are going to stomp their way up Snowdon to raise money for Northamptonshire Search & Rescue.
Search and rescue in the Uk is provided entirely by volunteers, no one is paid. Across the UK there are Lowland, Mountain, and RNLI teams on call 24/7 365 days a year. An estimated 12,000 volunteers, prepared to drop everything, and head out into the dark, cold and wet, to try and save lives of those , lost, missing or in danger. Within Northamptonshire this responsibility falls to NSAR, with around 50 trained professional volunteers on call when the need arises. In 2022 they attended 92 calls for assistance, locating multiple missing persons, and in several cases performing life saving interventions. In 2020 they supported the major incident declared at the flooding of Billing aqua drome, being onsite and rescuing numerous people in a 48hour period. They are a charity and receive no central funding, relying on donations from the public and business to operate. An annual running cost is around £14,000. Every penny raised goes directly to saving lives.
