Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Almost four years ago our lives were shattered when our daughter, Laura, died by suicide having suffered with depression.
She was a beautiful, talented young woman of 35, who had dedicated her life to the service of others through her work in the charity sector. The world is a much poorer place without her.
In conjunction with the Stubbs family, who suffered a similar tragedy, we are fundraising for South East London Mind to raise awareness of mental health amongst young people and to encourage them to speak out and ask for support when they need it. To enable this, qualified trainers work closely with primary and secondary school students across the South East London boroughs , providing all young people with information about how to access follow up services, if they need it. So far the programme has benefitted nearly 6,500 young people, of which 7.5% requested additional support. Of those who sought help up to 67% were not previously known as needing help. We need your support to reach many more. Any donations will go straight towards funding this project.
Having started in two pilot secondary schools the programme is now rolling out across primary and secondary schools.
This year we are grateful to Ciaran Burns, Captain of Sundridge Park Golf Club for adopting SEL Mind Mindsup as the Captain's Charity for his year and we will be running this year in support of Ciaran's fundraising efforts.
Thank you for your generosity.
