Story
This will be my 6th Kiltwalk, and undoutbedly the hardest one I have faced due to a pretty horrendous last year or so, with physical and mental health taking a bit of a pounding.
As always, I am raising money for Diamonds in the Community, and the variety of projects which are listed below. But more importantly, doing it in memory of John Sheridan - a friend, confidante, and volunteer of DITC - who sadly passed away at the start of the year.
It was John who I did my 1st kiltwalk with. Just him, mutual friend Gerry Shields and I (and of course, wee Charlie the dog). Just the 3 of us doing it to raise cash for our wee charity.
Since then, it has turned out to be one of the biggest fundraising events for our wee charity, with an incredible 113 turning out to do the last one in Edinburgh.
The next one in Glasgow will see 75 people turning out for DITC, all of us sporting T-Shirts with Johns face and name of them. What a legacy for the man.
DITC operate many projects in the town and surrounding areas, including but not limited to....
Baby And Family Clothing Bank; Home Comforts Project; Walk and Talk Group; Weekly Art Class; Memories Group; Chit Chat Cafe; Walking Sports; Disability Sports; Tech Recycling Programme; Indoor Bowls; Football Boot Swap Shop; Free Sanitary Products, Nappies and Toiletries; Free Winter Coats; and have carried out a variety of community based projects abroad, including distributing 50000 pieces of football kit to Africa via KitAid, 2 trips to Mongolia and one to Namibia. All your donations will go to these worthwhile projects.
Thank you for any donation you can afford.
