This April, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamHEARTUK ❤️ to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that affects nearly 1 in 2 adults in the UK: high cholesterol. It’s a hidden risk that can lead to heart attacks, strokes and vascular dementia but with the right support, it’s also preventable.

In 2024, my Nan was rushed to hospital after having a heart attack. Three of her main coronary arteries were dangerously blocked, which was totally unexpected. If left untreated, she would have been at risk of further, possibly fatal, heart attacks.

Her cardiologist made the decision to perform a triple heart bypass. She was transferred to the amazing team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, where surgeons restored blood flow to her heart.

Before her surgery my Nan’s quality of life had drastically declined. She was constantly breathless, even just walking from the kitchen to the living room. She lost her appetite and dropped two stone in a short period of time. Watching someone you love struggle like that is heartbreaking.

Thanks to the operation and the care and support from NHS staff and organisations like HEART UK my Nan is living a much healthier life.

This charity is incredibly close to my heart, because without the awareness, research, and support it provides, families like mine might have a very different story to tell ❤️
