We first signed up to complete this event to raise money for Velindre who took great care of our grandfather Stuart Oakley. He received treatment here for many months and continually praised the efforts of all the staff that treated him and gave incredible support to my nan during these times also. He was pleased to hear that we were running for a charity that supported him through his battle with cancer. It is with sadness to say that he passed away before the Castle to Castle event, but I can say with certainty that he will be continuing to support us in spirit. We and our family can only thank Velindre for the support they provided and we hope to raise money so they can continue to support others fighting the battle against cancer in the future.

Stuart was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always prioritised caring for, and spending time with family. His purity, kindness, humour and his strength are just a few of the many qualities that he has shown throughout his time. He blessed everyone’s lives and I know he will continue to support, care and love for us all wherever he may be now. His legacy will not be forgotten and neither will his smile! We love you Gramps, always and forever!
