BHF London to Brighton bike ride 2026 · 21 June 2026

Amna’s vision is a world where refugees can determine their futures, unbounded by the impact of conflict and displacement. We are working to improve access to empowering, community-led psychosocial healing services for refugees so they can regain their resilience and reconnect with feelings of joy and belonging. We are a refugee-led organization and our programmes have developed together with refugees and psychosocial experts. Our approach is simple and evidence-based. We equip organizations to deliver services to mitigate the impact of trauma and toxic stress and create safe and playful spaces where displaced people can convene and heal as a community. We aim to provide care as early as possible to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma that can affect individual and communities for a long time. We are building a workforce of therapeutically trained frontline workers by funding and training community partners around the world to offer trauma and identity informed psychosocial care to people affected by conflict and forced displacement. Since we began operating in 2016, we have provided vital mental health support to over 25000 refugees, funded over 50 organizations and trained 380 partners across 13 countries. To date, our programmes have indirectly reached over 2.4 million displaced people.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.On 21 June, I am taking on the challenge of cycling from London directly to Brighton Railway Station. I will be riding a Ribble Endurance road bike to tackle the 59-mile journey across the open roads of Surrey and Sussex, culminating in the brutal 1-mile hill climb up Ditchling Beacon (hitting gradients of up to 16%).This ride is deeply personal to me. As a child, I lived through the trauma of war, migration, and sudden separation alongside my siblings. My childhood was fractured by the chaos of conflict, a reality that forced us to navigate a world suddenly stripped of its familiar anchors. Most painfully, this upheaval resulted in a grueling three-year separation from my mother—a period where time itself felt suspended, and the ache of her absence became a heavy, daily weight we had to endure. I know firsthand the profound mental and emotional toll that displacement takes on children and families, where the landscape of safety vanishes overnight.Because of these experiences, I am raising money for Amna (Amna Refugee Healing Network, Registered Charity No: 1203454). Amna provides crucial, community-targeted trauma support and psychological healing spaces for refugees and displaced people escaping conflict.

THE REGENT'S PARK CHALLENGE:

To jumpstart my fundraising and hold myself accountable, I am setting a training challenge! For every single donation between £5 and £10, I will cycle a full training lap around the Outer Circle in Regent's Park.

TRACK ME LIVE ON STRAVA:

To prove I am doing the work, I have linked this JustGiving page directly to my Strava account. Every single training ride and lap you buy me will update live right here on my page for you to monitor!

Amna means ‘safety’ in Arabic. Founded by a former refugee, Amna works to expand mental health and community-led psychosocial support for refugees and displaced communities.

Taking on this intense physical challenge on 21 June is my way of supporting their vital work. Because Amna is a grassroots organisation, every single pound raised here will go into a secure JustGiving fund to back their psychological support networks.

Please back my ride, buy a training lap, and donate whatever you can to bring healing to those who need it most.

Thank you so much for your support.
