Story
My sons Lewis (3) and Jamie (2) will be walking “a mile for mummy” to raise money for LATNEM and help fund all the amazing work they do to support mums across the North East.
In the UK, suicide accounts for 34% of maternal deaths between 6 weeks and 12 months after the end of pregnancy and the rates of maternal mortality from suicide continues to increase.
LATNEM support mums and birthing people with their mental health; ensuring they feel supported, cared for and less alone and that their children and families do not have to deal with the far-reaching impacts of maternal suicide.
LATNEM are a charity run entirely by mums with lived experience of maternal mental ill health; everything they do is to prevent maternal suicide.
We support mums and birthing people to improve and maintain their mental wellbeing in many different ways. Our peer support meetings give them the opportunity to feel supported, cared for and less alone. Registered LATNEM members may benefit from a resource library full of self help and reference books, group psychology, group EFT sessions, Mindfulness evenings, mental wellbeing courses and a lot more.
