In the UK, suicide accounts for 34% of maternal deaths between 6 weeks and 12 months after the end of pregnancy, and the rates of maternal mortality from suicide continues to increase.
At LATNEM, we support mums and birthing people with their mental health; ensuring they feel supported, cared for and less alone and that their children and families do not have to deal with the far-reaching impacts of maternal suicide.
We are a charity run entirely by mums with lived experience of maternal mental ill health; everything we do is to prevent maternal suicide.
LATNEM support mums and birthing people to improve and maintain their mental wellbeing in many different ways. Our peer support meetings give them the opportunity to feel supported, cared for and less alone. Registered LATNEM members may benefit from a resource library full of self help and reference books about mental health recommended by a psychologist, group psychology, group EFT sessions, Mindfulness evenings, signposting and referrals to third sector organisations, Beyond Birth Mental Wellbeing courses, subsidised access to private therapies, registered childcare to allow them to attend mental health appointments without their children, self care and crisis packs, creative journaling sessions and a lot more.
