The Big Ride for Palestine 2026 is once again supporting Gaza Sunbirds. Read on to find about this year's campaign
Last year we, Stu and Ele, took part in the Big Ride for Palestine in Bristol and despite only setting up the fundraiser at midnight the night before, we still managed to raise £400 (Ele was a suspected terrorist at the time, but is no more). This time, we'll be heading to Margate en famille (above photo is from 3 years ago cycling into Paris all the way from London!) - with Martha and her much deserved new bicycle...on Saturday 25th July. We are riding to raise funds for the Sunbirds, a para-cycling team from Gaza. We cannot bear the endless loss of life and unbearable hardships the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are being subjected to.
Alaa al Dali and Mohammed Asfour, two of the Sunbirds evacuated the strip in 2024, are now competing for Palestine on a global stage. The rest of the team remains in Gaza where they are delivering aid and supporting their local communities.
Money raised will go to:
1. International competitions- help the Sunbirds get to LA 2026.
2. Aid in Gaza- help the Sunbirds to continue to work with local partners to deliver food aid in Gaza.
3. Sports in Gaza- help the Sunbirds continue to provide rehab and sports therapy for those who have been injured in the genocide.
4. Sports around the world- help the Sunbirds support Palestinians in the diaspora to train and compete in sports- offering professional tracks to compete with Team Palestine.
Ele regularly takes part in the Great Ride of Return cycle rides in central London and Gaza Sunbirds co-founder, Karim Ali, is a fellow south east Londoner. In December 2024, in collaboration with musician Faris Ishaq, she organised a Tuned In London concert that raised funds for the Gaza Sunbirds.
Thank you in advance.
