Story
1 in 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist care. These babies and their parents rely on the support received through charities such as Bliss…
George was born at 25 weeks whilst we were on holiday in the Caribbean. We spent 3 months in NICU over there before we were able to get him home to London. Being over 4000 miles away from home, in a non English speaking country was an extra challenge to face alongside the daily struggles of the NICU. With little to no support we faced everyday one day at a time. It wasn’t until we got back to the UK that I was informed about Bliss and this is where my journey with Bliss began.
I would have loved their support during our first 3 months, especially because they have played a huge part in my life since being home.
After experiencing the trauma of George’s birth and start to life I knew I wanted to do something for charity, something that would force me to push myself for my own healing and to fight every day like George did.
The London Marathon is the only thing I want to do, it just ‘feels right’. I didn’t tell anyone that I was submitting an application as just under 600,000 people applied this year and I knew my chances were slim. Out of the thousands of applicants I never thought I would be picked. For me it was running for Bliss or not at all. I’m proud to be representing Bliss but most of all I’m proud to be doing this for George. His strength, fight and bravery is like nothing I’ve ever seen and I plan on doing the exact same. Am I petrified of 26.2 miles? Absolutely! But it’s a challenge I’m ready to conquer!
I thank you all for believing in me and supporting me, all donations whatever the value is appreciated from the bottom of my heart.
I promise not to let you down.
