Story
I am embarking on a thrilling adventure by participating in a Sky Dive in Swansea on September 21, 2025, to raise funds for a new Sensory Room at Bryn Siriol Respite Centre. This cause is incredibly close to my heart, as I have dedicated almost three years of my life to supporting individuals at this vital respite service.
Bryn Siriol is a welcoming 3-bedroom bungalow that provides essential respite for individuals aged 18-70. Currently, we support 25 regular guests who benefit from up to 8 weeks of care each year. During their stay, they engage in various activities designed to create a joyful holiday experience. However, our current sensory room has become unusable, and it breaks our hearts to see the disappointment on the faces of those we serve. The sensory room brings immense joy and comfort to our guests and the wider community, making its replacement an urgent necessity.
We are determined to create a new sensory facility that will honor the memory of a beloved local Mencap campaigner who recently passed away. Our goal is to have this new space ready in time for Mencap Cymru’s 80th anniversary in January 2026. To achieve this vision, we need your support! Please consider donating towards our target of £400; every contribution brings us one step closer to making this dream a reality for those who need it most.
