Story
Education and working to support children and families are two causes that mean a lot to me. This year, I was fortunate to join the team at Horton's Kids bringing together my personal commitment to these causes and my professional work in fundraising.
Horton's Kids 15th Annual Give Thanks & Give Back gala is right after my birthday. So instead of presents, I'm asking if you will join me and make a gift that will make a lasting difference.
For 33 years, Horton's Kids has been fighting inequality to ensure every child graduates from high school ready to succeed in college, career, and life. The organization operates two Community Resource Centers, reaches 600 participants and their families, and offers a comprehensive array of programs.
The Southeast DC neighborhoods Horton's Kids serves are among the most under-resourced in the District. Wellington Park and Stanton Oaks are profoundly impacted by decades of disinvestment and barriers to opportunity.
The impact of Horton's Kids is dramatic: Program participants are twice as likely to graduate from high school compared to their peers living in the same communities.
Horton's Kids has a goal to raise more than $250,000 through this year's Give Thanks & Give Back gala. My personal goal is to raise at least $500 and I'm asking you to join me. The money we raise together is an investment in helping children and families thrive.
Thanks for helping me celebrate my birthday by making a difference!
