Story
It's Rare Disease Day on 28 February, so to support people living with Rare Bone Marrow Failure, Ellie and Sam are leading two lovely weekend walks.
Enjoy walks? Not a fan of bone marrow failure? It's a no brainer!
Here's how to show your support:
1. Join us for a walk! Register for either (or both) of the walks at the links below:
Stroll through Epping Forest on Saturday 28th February
Walk from Harpenden to St Albans on Sunday 29th March
2. Show your support of people living with rare bone marrow failure, and Ellie and Sam organising walks, by donating on this page!
Organising walks? Shouldn't you be running a marathon or something?
Ha ha ha ha. No.
We're putting our spare time charity energy into helping organise these walks because the walks also provide a valuable connection point for people who have very very rare conditions. People who have aplastic anaemia or another rare bone marrow condition can join us for the walk, meet each other and have a chat about it. These connections can make a huge difference to people, and they are hard to arrange because the community of people affected by these conditions is very small and rare and (in some cases) very poorly. More walks = more opportunities for people to come to a thing and meet people.
And by coming to the walk, or donating, you can help make the walk viable, and fun, and worth us organising. See you there!
CHARTY BLURB
Having a rare condition such as aplastic anemia can be lonely and people affected by it often feel isolated.
By donating and supporting us, you have the opportunity to change that feeling of loneliness and isolation.
Your donations provide opportunities to meet other people who know what it’s like and understand. You will be funding the AAT coffee mornings, online meetups, webinars and support line.
Here is a cute video Ellie made with Sarah to show the kind of information we send out from The Aplastic Anaemia Trust office:
