Story
I’ve been living with ulcerative colitis since I was 19 — I’m now 27.
Before my diagnosis, running was a huge part of my life. I’d completed several races and a few half marathons, and I always dreamed of one day running a full marathon.
But over the years, colitis has held me back. There were times when the pain and symptoms forced me to stop running altogether.
This year, even while flaring, I rediscovered my love for running. I pushed through and completed two half marathons — and I haven’t missed a single training session, even on the tough days.
So I’ve decided: this is the year. I’m finally going for it — I’m running a full marathon, and nothing is going to stop me.
I’m about to start Infliximab infusions, and I’m hopeful they’ll help get me out of this flare in time for race day.
I’m running to raise money for a charity that means a lot to me, and to show that chronic illness doesn’t define me — it won’t hold me back.
Most of all, I hope my journey inspires others to believe in themselves — no matter their circumstances, they can achieve their goals.
