Story
On 14 May, as part of Mayhew’s 140th anniversary, we - Mayhew’s CEO and Chair - will be spending the night in our kennels and cattery for a special fundraising Sleep In.
This isn’t about recreating an animal’s experience - it’s a symbolic gesture to shine a light on something simple but important:
A kennel isn’t a home. And neither is a cattery.
Every day, animals arrive at Mayhew with nowhere else to turn. Our teams give them safety, care and compassion from the moment they arrive - but their real journey begins when they find a loving home of their own.
Right now, more animals are coming into rescue, and many are staying with us for longer. That’s why this Sleep In is our way of raising vital funds and amplify the message that every animal deserves comfort, dignity, and a second chance.
We will be spending the night alongside an animal chosen by our Animal Care teams-one who would genuinely enjoy calm company and interaction. No animal spaces are being taken, and every step has been planned with their welfare at the centre.
If you’re able to support, even with £10, I’d be incredibly grateful.
Your kindness helps fund vital vet care, behavioural support, and the ongoing work that brings animals closer to the loving homes they deserve.
More updates to come - and thank you for supporting us in our 140th year. 💙🐾
