Story
Doddie Aid is a mass participation event that encourages you to get active in January, and runs until Wednesday 5th February - all whilst raising money for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation to help find a cure for motor neurone disease (MND).
This is my 3rd year supporting Doddie Aid and I'm aiming to cover 500 miles over the 5 weeks (the Proclaimers Challenge). - Any exercise counts, and I will log my miles in the Doddie Aid app as part of Team England.
MND is a condition that progressively damages parts of the nervous system, leading to muscle weakness and degeneration that makes it more difficult to perform normal activities such as gripping, walking, speaking, swallowing, and breathing. As MND progresses it results in increasing body paralysis, significant shortness of breath, and ultimately a fatal loss of lung function.
Whilst there is currently no cure for MND, there are treatments that can help relieve the symptoms, as well as support available from charities such as the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. The Foundation also invests in pioneering MND research to expedite the development of new treatments and ultimately a cure.
Please consider supporting me via donation on this page: all proceeds will go to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
Thank you.
