Story
In April 2026, Simon and I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a special cause.
My mother, Lindsay Jane Ward, was truly one of a kind. She had a rare mix of wit and warmth, passion and patience, silliness and strength.
In May 2023, she suffered a catastrophic subarachnoid brain haemorrhage and died. She was there one day and gone the next.
The hole she left in our lives was, and still is, unfathomable. But Lindsay was never one for self-pity. She believed you get one go at life, so you should make the most of it. In our own ways, we have all tried to live by that.
For me, running became a lifeline. It helped me cope with what had happened, supporting both my physical and mental wellbeing.
That is why it feels so incredibly special to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for The Brain Charity with my husband Simon, in Lindsay’s memory.
