Peak District Ultra Challenge 2025 · 28 June 2025 ·
I am fundraising for The National Literary Trust because I love to read and use my reading skills every day. I can't imagine how difficult it is not being able to read. I'll be proudly walking with others who work at Penguin Random House.
Hiking 20km in the Peak District is definitely a challenge as it will involve climbing lots of hills. I'd love it if you could support me by donating what you can.
The National Literacy Trust empower people with the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. At Penguin Random House, we’ve set ourselves the ambitious challenge of taking on the Peak District Ultra Challenge in aid of the National Literacy Trust.
Every donation will help the National Literacy Trust to transform the life stories of children living in the most disadvantaged areas of the UK through literacy.
On average, children from the poorest backgrounds start school 19 months behind other children. Children without these skills will be held back at every stage of their lives. They are:
- Five times more likely to fail to meet the expected standards in English at age 11
- Four times more likely to struggle to read as adults
- Twice as likely to be unemployed aged 34
- Three times more likely to have mental health problems as adults.
Thank you for supporting Penguin Random House's Peak District Ultra Challenge.
