Story

My brave, beautiful and strong sister Lucy is running the London Marathon in memory of our Mum and to raise money for bowel cancer. To show my support, pride and love for her, I will be raising money in Lucy’s name to add to her marathon fund.

As all my friends and family know, I get out of breath walking up the stairs, I take my car everywhere and I’ll always find the parking space closest to the shop doors. The thought of running is the furthest thing from my mind, let alone 10k, let alone in fancy dress.

I will be running in the Brecon Carreg CDF 10K on Sunday 7th September!

So please, please, show your support and donate to this incredibly vital charity for my Sister, for my Mum and to say FUCK CANCER!!

In my sisters words..

“My incredible, hilarious and beautiful mum, Alison Thornton was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in January 2021 and heartbreakingly passed away in December 2022. My mum had no symptoms at all so one of the most important things to me, is sharing awareness of what symptoms could look like, in case we could help anyone become more aware of their body, any potential changes and recognising normal or not so normal pooing habits etc.”

“I’ve chosen to support Bowel Cancer UK as they're UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

They support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

How your donation could help make a difference:

• £10 could deliver an awareness talk

• £25 could provide an hour’s expert nurse support on our Ask the Nurse service

• £50 could help support policy work to improve bowel screening

By donating today, we can help Bowel Cancer UK achieve their vision of a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.”
