Story
I am absolutely buzzing, beyond thrilled, and totally over the moon to announce... I’m running the TCS 2026 London Marathon as part of #TeamBowelCancerUK!!!!!!
For those of you who know me well, you’ll know the reason behind this challenge is close to my heart. My incredible, hilarious and beautiful mum, Alison Thornton was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in January 2021 and heartbreakingly passed away in December 2022. My mum had no symptoms at all so one of the most important things to me, is sharing awareness of what symptoms could look like, in case we could help anyone become more aware of their body, any potential changes and recognising normal or not so normal pooing habits etc.
Today, I’m filled with pure joy because I’ve been given the amazing opportunity to run the London Marathon in mums honour and raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
Mum was everything... kind, funny, thoughtful, bubbly, and just full of life. She was taken from us far too soon at just 51 years old, after an intense battle that lasted just under two years. But wow, the way she fought in those two years and the way she touched EVERYONE around her, it was nothing short of extraordinary.
So, here I am, ready to take on this huge challenge in memory of a woman who would think this whole thing is absolutely nuts (but also, extremely proud!). This is for you mum, your laughter, your love and your incredible energy that still fills every corner of my heart. I miss you more than words can say, but I know you’ll be with me every step of the way.
Let's do this, mumma!!! 🚀💖👟

I’ve chosen to support Bowel Cancer UK as they're UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
They support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
How your donation could help make a difference:
• £10 could deliver an awareness talk
• £25 could provide an hour’s expert nurse support on our Ask the
Nurse service
• £50 could help support policy work to improve bowel screening
By donating today, we can help Bowel Cancer UK achieve their vision of a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.
