Azizi Life’s impact goes beyond the fair wage work opportunity we create with our artisan partners. We also offer resources to rural Rwandans so that they can continue to improve their own lives, bringing spiritual, physical and economic development to their communities.

Story

During the Summer, I will be volunteering for a month in the Enterprise Development team with other students for Azizi Life, a charity based in Byimana, Rwanda. As Azizi Life is continuously growing, new problems and opportunities arise for the charity. The Enterprise Development Team will assist Azizi Life with its strategic planning and business development by helping them to scope out new products and services to offer tourists and customers.

As part of the University of Manchester's commitment to providing meaningful volunteering opportunities and promoting social responsibility overseas, Team Rwanda is the University's flagship international volunteering project for students at the University. The project is completely funded by the University so all donations will go directly to Azizi Life to help with their amazing community projects.

Azizi Life is a social enterprise based in Rwanda. Azizi Life runs several community projects including supporting local artisans to build more sustainable practices and reach wider markets, and supporting adult literacy in the local community.

It costs approximately £16 to teach someone to read and write. In 2023, Azizi Life taught 1200 students with the aim for 2024 being over 2,000 with over 1,000 people signed up for the first 6-month course.

To fundraise for Azizi Life's community projects as a Team we are challenging ourselves to collectively run the perimeter of Rwanda which is 893km in total before we leave the UK in July. We will be documenting our virtual progress using a sketch map. If you would like to keep up to date with our collective efforts we will be posting updates on our Rwanda 2024 Strava Club page:

I alongside other volunteers will be participating in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday the 26th of May as part of UoM Sport's Purple Wave programme. We will be fundraising on behalf of Azizi Life so any donations would be much appreciated towards our efforts.

Thank you so much for your support and Donations!
