Esme Barrack is raising money for Beat

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

At the end of April, I will be running the London Marathon. I thought this would be a good opportunity to raise some money for charity. I have chosen the charity BEAT as they help people with eating disorders, something I have and still struggle with.

Since Covid/lockdown I have struggled with a constant battle inside my head with thinking I need to have societies expectations of the “perfect body” and this struggle has manifested itself in many ways but predominantly with my eating. Because of this, I feel like I have missed out on so many social occasions and enjoying life for what it is.

Two years ago, I started running. My mindset was, I have just eaten so I need to run those calories off. Now it’s I need to eat so i can run. Running has now become my escape from everything.

If I can raise some money to help just one person with their mental struggles, all the hours of training and hard work will have been worth it.

I’ll be so grateful for any donations given ❤️
