I’m walking 25 miles to help brain injury survivors like me!

Step by Step Challenge for Same You · 1 November 2024
This November, I am thrilled to be part of the SameYou team of fundraisers.
In June 2023, after an accident I suffered a seizure and brain bleed post concussion, 8 days in hospital in Poland and a long journey to recover from a Traumatic Brain Injury and later diagnosed with Hydrocephalus.
I’m not the same person I was before and I’m okay with that. I’m working on being a better version of me and slowly I make progress. It’s lonely and difficult at times, and immensely amazing at other times. Life is different now, even though many won’t even know or notice in the glimpses of well me.
I’m full of gratitude for all the support I’ve had and have from family, friends, work and colleagues. My recovery journey continues and I celebrate life daily and gradually do more and more of what I love and what is important to me.
I’m doing the SameYou Step by Step Together fundraising challenge to help raise much-needed funds to develop better mental health recovery treatments for survivors and their loved ones, especially those without the incredible support I have around me.
The theme of the challenge is 'connection'. It will officially start on November 1 and I will be walking 25 miles with my beautiful and amazing Mom, Janet, over 14 days.
I’m grateful for any support and spare change you can give to help me fundraise to help others who are recovering from brain injuries, clearly a cause very dear to my heart and mind 💛
SameYou is a remarkable charity founded by Emilia Clarke MBE, dedicated to revolutionising recovery for brain injury survivors and their loved ones. By providing better rehabilitation services, SameYou helps survivors regain their independence and rebuild their lives.
Every step I take during November will bring us closer to transforming the lives of those affected by brain injuries.
Brain injury can happen to anyone. With 1 in 3 people experiencing a brain injury in their lifetime, you will know someone with a brain injury at some point and this is your opportunity to come together and make a difference.
