Story

It was a challenge getting to the start venue from home because bicycles are not allowed in the tube and Thameslink didn’t start until 06:30hrs. Nana and I had to rely on the kindness of a lady bus driver ( on the bus 63 ) who let us get on her bus to drop us off at Elephant and Castle. The other drivers won’t let our bicycles on so our adventure began with a couple of hiccups. So we rode our bikes from E&C to Clapham South. That was on top of getting assaulted by a man who was obviously having a MH crisis but was thankfully rescued by a man who sounded like an off duty police officer. A huge THANK YOU to him for pinning him down and arresting him so I can make our way to the starting point!

We completed the London to Brighton challenge successfully and made it back home quite comfortably. The amazing organisation skills and effort of our team Captain Lucie, Jollie + family and Renzhi, who also cycled with us but drove us home with our bikes eventhough he was exhausted!

Last but not the least, eventhough the charity had the rider rangers along side us, it was a huge comfort to have our very own medic support following us in the form of Jollie’s husband Vijay, brother in law and my boyfriend Kevin❤️

UCL have put together a team of dedicated researchers, clinicians and friends, who are passionate about research and improving delivery of care, to take on the BHF London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday, June 15th!

The British Heart Foundation funds lifesaving research, helping develop new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat not only heart and circulatory disease, but also stroke, vascular dementia and diabetes. In providing £100 million each year towards pioneering work and affording invaluable support to people and families affected by heart conditions, the BHF is a leading charity in the fight against cardiovascular disease.

But we need your help to support the good work they do! We are undertaking this 54-mile cycling challenge to raise funds for such a worthy cause. Please join us on this adventure and donate today to aid a charity close to our hearts!
