Story
UCL team picture on Clapham Common (June 15th, 2025) before we headed off on the grueling London to Brighton cycle ride organized by the BHF. It was a challenge for some riders to get the venue start - just when you wanted to rely on public transport, the Elizabeth line when down meaning at least 3 cyclists had to pedal an extra 10 miles.
We all finished in one piece, and were thankful to have bike mechanics on hand to fix issues we encountered with some of our bikes. Once we have collated more photos will update this page and keep it active for a while longer so people can donate to UCL's amazing Team effort.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------University College London (UCL) have put together a team of students, staff, clinicians and nurses, who are passionate about research and improving delivery of healthcare, to take on the BHF London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday, June 15th. We are proud to support this nationwide initiative dedicated to raising funds to find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat not only heart and circulatory disease, but also stroke, vascular dementia and diabetes.
We are starkly reminded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF), that "UK’s heart health has declined more quickly at the start of the 2020s than in any other decade for over 50 years". Here at UCL, the BHF is funding pioneering research including through the BHF Centre of Research Excellence and the BHF-UK DRI Centre for Vascular Dementia Research.
We need your support as we undertake this 54-mile cycling challenge to raise funds for such a worthy cause. Please join us on this adventure and donate today to aid a charity close to our hearts!
