I’m taking on the Swim the Distance challenge to help raise funds for Capability Scotland’s new hydrotherapy pool at Our Inclusive Community Project in Perth. I’ve seen for myself the amazing difference a pool like this can make for the disabled people we support, and I’d love your help to make it a reality!

The pool will benefit everyone we work with, but it’s especially life-changing for people with Cerebral Palsy. It helps improve circulation, relax muscles, ease pain, and improve balance—not to mention the boost it gives to mental well-being. This isn’t just a “nice-to-have”—it’s an essential resource that will such a positive effect on peoples lives.

It’s not just about therapy, either. The pool will also open up opportunities for the wider community, like parent-and-toddler sessions. It’ll give babies their first experience of water and help them build bonds with their parents and carers.

I’ve set myself the goal of swimming 10k (though I might push myself even further!). It’s a huge challenge for me because I’m currently recovering from a slipped disc, which has left my thigh muscles struggling to work. But I’m determined to take it on—not just to aid my recovery but to support the incredible people Capability Scotland helps every day.
