Visit the charity's profileCapability Scotland is a charity that believes in an inclusive Scotland where everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard, contribute to society, and fulfil their potential. We exist to create the conditions, places, and spaces for disabled people to thrive and have the very best quality of life.
Our Inclusive Community Project is the re-provisioning of our services at Upper Springland, Isla Road, Perth at a new site at Bertha Park, Perth. It represents the most significant, the most complex and the most exciting strategic project that our charity will ever have undertaken. We now have the opportunity to start with a blank canvas – to reimagine our services, to be at the heart of a new community and deliver exemplar services – to be a national resource. With your support, we can move beyond the essential. Beyond the simple security of four walls towards creating a beacon of inclusive community life that affords equality of opportunity and participation to the people we support.
At the heart of Our Inclusive Community Project is the Community Hub which will provide essential resources to the people we support and the wider community. Within the Community Hub will be the Hydrotherapy Pool, an essential source of therapy and recreation.
For Jason, pictured above the hydrotherapy pool at Upper Springland plays a vital role in his routine, being in the allows him to stretch his muscles and work on his balance and coordination—exercises that help him maintain motor control and prevent further physical challenges, including poor bone density. Without access to a pool like this, both Jason’s physical and mental well-being would be profoundly impacted.
This is why we need your help, we need you to Swim the Distance and help Capability Scotland reach its fundraising target and make the dream of a hydrotherapy pool at Our Inclusive Community facility a reality.
