Story
I honestly can’t believe that I am taking on this challenge, it is something I never dreamt I would do due to having a fear of heights and the fact I’ll just be free falling through the sky from 10,000ft for around 30-40 seconds before the parachute opens.
However, after seeing what the effects of drinking alcohol did to my Dad, his body and health, I don’t think I will be scared of doing anything again as nothing can possibly be as frightening as witnessing him slowly fading away to a shadow of his former self until we eventually had to say goodbye in January 2024 at the age of 71.
I am hoping by doing this I can raise awareness of the effects of alcohol and the destruction it can have on a persons body and also highlight the effects on those around them. Below is information from the charity themselves. Any donations no matter how big or small will be gratefully received. Thank you for reading.
About Alcohol Change UK
We are Alcohol Change UK. We work for a society that is free from the harm caused by alcohol.
We are not anti-alcohol; we are for alcohol change. We are for a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.
How your donations can help:
* A donation of £20 could support around 20 people reduce their drinking through Dry January®.
* £30 could help us develop and deliver more training for front line workers and improve support for dependent drinkers.
* £40 could cover the costs of supporting 16 people for six months to reduce their drinking through our Try Dry® app.
