Story

As part of our campaign to raise money to support The Owen McVeigh Foundation, staff and PGR Students from the Faculty of Science & Engineering are taking part in a University Sports Day on 11th September.

A wide range of events will take place, from futsal to crazy golf and even a Mario Kart Switch challenge, biathlon, tug of war and egg and spoon races!

The Owen McVeigh Foundation was set up in memory of a young Liverpudlian who sadly passed away in 2015 at 11 years old, after being diagnosed with leukaemia. The charity’s aim is to create special memories for children who are seriously ill and to support their families.

When nominating the charity, one colleague wrote:

‘The foundation, in its mission to forge enduring memories, provides solace that lingers with these families well beyond the loss of their child. Despite the immense suffering and the finality of their situations, these children manage to uphold their spirited sense of humour. Supporting this cause feels especially meaningful to me.’
