Story

Staff across the Faculty of Science and Engineering are hosting and taking part in events across 2024 to raise money for The Owen McVeigh Foundation. Staff members can donate via this JustGiving Page and can get involved with our events at the Faculty intranet. We can even help you plan your own events to help the fundraising effort.

The Owen McVeigh Foundation was set up in memory of a young Liverpudlian who sadly passed away in 2015 at 11 years old, after being diagnosed with leukaemia. The charity’s aim is to create special memories for children who are seriously ill and to support their families.

When nominating the charity, one colleague wrote:

‘The foundation, in its mission to forge enduring memories, provides solace that lingers with these families well beyond the loss of their child. Despite the immense suffering and the finality of their situations, these children manage to uphold their spirited sense of humour. Supporting this cause feels especially meaningful to me.’
