Story

***Update: Thu 20 April 2023

Eid Mubarak! I completed my Ramadan challenge of running 150k while fasting with a half-marathon (21k) 10 minutes before Iftar! It was a tough but worthwhile journey, especially today with the longer distance and rain causing my clothes and shoes to soak. Your support and encouragement helped me to keep my goal in mind and complete the challenge.

Thank you so much for supporting such an important cause - the relaunch of the CIC Alimiyyah Programme in Arabic and Islamic Studies. By donating, you are investing in the future of our community and ensuring that our children have access to quality Islamic education and inspiring role models. Please donate if you haven't already. Jazakum Allahu khayran and may Allah bless you and your loved ones. Happy Eid! Faisal

***End of Update

Assalamu alaykum! I hope this message finds you in good spirits. I would like to share with you a personal challenge that I have taken on this Ramadan. My goal is to run 150k while fasting in order to raise funds for a very important initiative - the relaunch of the CIC 'Alimiyyah Programme in Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Why support CIC?

This programme aims to produce individuals who are well-versed in Islamic teachings and can connect with young Muslims in schools, colleges, universities, and the workplace. These individuals will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide and inspire the next generation of Muslims. We have seen the positive impact that young scholars like Engy Moussa and Ibrahim Faisal have had on our community and beyond. Engy, for example, graduated with a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge while also doing the Alimiyyah Programme at CIC. Ibrahim is currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham and was a student at CIC prior to that.

Future of our Community

Investing in education is investing in the future of our community. The CIC 'Alimiyyah Programme is an important initiative that needs your support to become a reality. By supporting this programme, we are investing in the future of our community and ensuring that the next generation of Muslims is well-equipped to face the challenges of the modern world.

I urge you to join me in supporting this important (sadaqah jariyah and zakat applicable) cause. Let's come together as a community to support Islamic education and invest in our future. Jazakallahu khayr for your support!

Postscript

I would like to share with you the story of my son, Ibrahim. On January 31, 2023, Ibrahim was driving home after arriving from Jerusalem when he was involved in a serious road traffic accident. It was a terrifying time for our family, but by the grace of Allah, Ibrahim was able to make a full recovery and is now back on his feet. Despite the difficult circumstances, we were grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our community.

In light of this experience, I have decided to fundraise to express my gratitude for my son's recovery and to support his former college, CIC. As you may know, CIC is a wonderful institution that has played a pivotal role in Ibrahim's life. By supporting CIC, I hope to repay the college for the role it played in Ibrahim's life and to ensure that future generations of students have access to the same opportunities that he did. Thank you for your consideration and support.
