Fight and Flight for Henry

Henry Rice is raising money for The Society For Mucopolysaccharide Diseases (The MPS Society)

IBA Boxing event at Woolston Manor in Chigwell (IG7 6BX) · 18 July 2026

The MPS Society provides specialist support to children, adults and families in the UK who are affected by MPS, Fabry and related lysosomal storage diseases and we fund research into treatment and therapies. These diseases are rare, genetic, life-limiting conditions with no cure.

Story

On Saturday 18th July, under the lights at an IBA Prize Ring Boxing event in Chigwell, two company directors — Jamie and Martin — will step far outside their comfort zones and into the boxing ring for one very special reason:

To help a little boy called Henry.

And the challenge will not end there.

After stepping into the ring, Jamie and Martin will later take their fundraising efforts to new heights by completing a parachute jump — making this truly a “Fight and Flight for Henry.”

Henry is just seven years old.

He is lively, loving, full of personality, and brings joy to everyone around him. But behind that smile lies an unimaginably difficult reality. Henry suffers from Hunter Syndrome (MPS II), a rare and life-limiting genetic disease that progressively attacks the body and changes the lives of affected families forever.

Hunter Syndrome impacts mobility, breathing, organs, development, and overall quality of life. There is currently no cure.

Yet despite the challenges he faces every day, Henry continues to show incredible courage, warmth, and spirit that inspires everyone who meets him.

Inspired by Henry’s bravery, Jamie and Martin have committed themselves to raising funds for the MPS Society through two daunting personal challenges.

First, a White Collar boxing match in front of a live audience.

Then, a parachute jump that will push them even further beyond their fears.

For two men more accustomed to meetings and boardrooms than boxing rings and airplanes, this is a serious undertaking.

Months of training.

Aches and bruises.

Nerves and fear.

The pressure of stepping into the ring.

And later, the terrifying moment of jumping from an aircraft thousands of feet above the ground.

Why do it?

Because if Henry can face the daily realities of Hunter Syndrome with courage and determination, then the rest of us can surely face our own fears to help make a difference.

Together, Jamie and Martin hope to raise £4,000 for the MPS Society — a charity that provides vital support for families and funds crucial research into devastating conditions like MPS II.

Every donation matters.

Whether you can give £5, £50, or more, your support will directly help families living with MPS and help fund hope for the future.
