Story
Just over two years ago, my father-in-law, Simon, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma.
I've seen just how difficult this journey can be.
The uncertainty, the constant not knowing what comes next.
Not knowing what tomorrow might look like.
Last month, we lost, Simon.
Throughout everything he went through, I also saw the incredible way the family came together around him.
Support for patients and their loved ones is vital, and research into new treatments is so important. Without it, the devastating prognosis for this disease will never change.
There have been countless bake sales, the Three Peaks Challenge, half marathons, and Lottie and her friends put on a cabaret. All to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, a cause that means so much to all of us.
Together, the family has raised an amazing amount, and watching everything that's been done over the last two years has inspired me to take on a challenge of my own.
So, on the 17th of October, I'll be running from Clacton-on-Sea, where Simon grew up, to Stonham Aspal, where he spent so much of his life surrounded by the people he loved.
Around 70 kilometres.
It's going to be a long day, but it's nothing compared to what Simon, and so many other people living with brain tumours, have had to face.
I'm doing it in his memory, for the family, and to raise as much as I can for The Brain Tumour Charity.
If you'd like to follow along, support the run, share it, or donate, I'd really appreciate it.
This one's for you, Simon.
Let's get to work.
