Story
We lost our beloved Matthew far too soon, after a short illness, but the care he received at Marie Curie gave us precious moments we will never forget. In his memory, we are joining their Twilight Walk, Saturday 27th September, as we want to give back to the hospice that gave us hope, comfort, and dignity during his final months.
Matthew was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive spinal tumour in February 2025. Despite every treatment, he sadly passed away at the beginning of August. During his short illness, the Marie Curie Hospice in Belfast cared for him on several occasions, and as a family we will always be grateful for the love and support they gave us.
The care Matthew received went far beyond medicine. The team treated him with gentleness, compassion, and respect, and they supported us as a family through some of our hardest days. One memory we will treasure forever is how the team went above and beyond their duties, organising additional care and support that made it possible for Matthew to celebrate his wedding day at Lough Erne Resort exactly as he wanted — something that meant the world to him, and to all of us.
The staff at Marie Curie are more than professionals; they are true angels who brought us moments of joy, laughter, and peace in the middle of heartache.
Marie Curie needs to raise £6,150 every single day to keep the hospice running. Every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure that families like ours receive the care and compassion they so desperately need when facing terminal illness. We are deeply thankful for any support you can give.
Please consider donating today in Matthew’s memory — your kindness will help other families make the most of their precious time together.
