Story
Sungai Watch is an environmental NGO, currently operating in the Indonesian islands of Bali and Java, whose objective is to protect Indonesia's waterways and prevent the flow of plastic into the ocean.
I was lucky enough to work with them over the summer holidays. My work involved setting up river barriers, collecting the plastic, and then finally sorting it by category. As the first time I was properly exposed to some of the threats posed to our planet, I will always remember my time with them. My thanks go to the founders of Sungai Watch - Gary, Sam, and Kelly - for organising the internship.
On returning to school, I decided to organise a fundraiser to support their incredible work. As part of the fundraiser which will take place in March we will walk the length of the Windsor half-marathon route, picking up litter along the way. The route will take us upwards of three to four hours and hopefully we will be joined by many students, teachers, and other members of the Eton community.
All donations of any size would be much appreciated, and on behalf of everyone who has made this fundraiser a reality, thank you all for your support!
